Now Hiring: Awesome Inside Salesperson

We’re looking for our first salesperson, and it’s a fun inside job working from home.

About Us

We’re a boutique book publisher that specializes in producing high quality middle grade, young adult and fictional books for adults.

About You: What We’re Looking For

You’ll be our very first salesperson. You’ll help us solve our own pain: we have a lot of leads, and the inside sales work of getting them contacted has become large enough that it’s a distraction from our publishing work.

Your week will involve:

  • Selling books and publishing services packages
  • Creating and contacting a network of academic wholesale and retail contacts and buyers for book sales
  • Contacting writer leads seeking publishing services
  • Handling incoming prospect email, sending basic sales and services information, and setting up sales calls with buyers as well as writers seeking publishing services
  • Manage the sales and services contract signing
  • Follow the book procurement process
  • Reaching out to past customers to offer repeat sales, new content and services
  • Going to major conferences with us and network with buyers and educators

Our customers will love working with you because:

  • You’re low pressure but you get things done without requiring micromanagement
  • You’ve never said “What do I need to do to put you in this used Buick today?”
  • You’ve got some sales industry experience
  • You’ve got at least a few years of sales experience, and you’ve been mentored by people who inspired you into making it a career
  • You can take the ball and run with it
  • You don’t need anyone to teach you anything about sales

You don’t have to worry if you don’t have:

  • Publishing knowledge or publishing-specific experience
  • Marketing experience (although that’s nice to have too)

About Your Goals for 2016

Here’s what we’d like you to accomplish in your first year:

Quarter 1:

  • Learn the products and services we sell
  • Build a list of prospective buyers and clients
  • Learn the current sales deck for selling books to academic and retail book buyers
  • Learn the current sales deck for publishing services to writers
  • Begin making sales calls and outgoing emails
  • Learn how to use our CRM system

Quarter 2:

  • Be the primary point of contact person for sales, and handle 90% of these engagements solo (without one us alongside you)
  • Track sales process in our CRM system so that we can see what’s in the pipeline
  • Start contacting existing customers for followup to offer repeat sales, new content and services

Quarter 3:

  • Continue what you did in quarter 2
  • Leverage your leads and do outbound calls

Down the road, we’d love to continue growing the company, and that means growing your position into a management role as we add more salespeople.

Sealing the Deal

You’ll love working with us because:

  • You can work remotely from home with flexible hours, with no on-call requirements
  • You’ll get a clear, measurable set of achievable goals with great compensation numbers attached
  • You can pick a really cool title (first come first serve, right?)
  • You get to update our sales process and show us how it’s done
  • As we grow, you get to start a little empire (or hey, maybe a big one)
  • We have just a handful of very focused, well-defined products, and they don’t require complex statements of work or long sales cycles

Obligatory fine print: you have to be authorized to work lawfully in the United States for us.

That’s us. Now tell us about you! We’re at editor@pantsonfirepress.com.
